Agartala, Sep 03, 2011 : In a major step towards complete e-governance services in Tripura, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar inaugurated the ‘e-jami’ services, an online facility for land records, status of the land and other related information through a website for West Tripura district here at Agartala Town hall on Saturday.
After the formal inauguration of the website for land records of West Tripura district, the citizens of the district can access their ‘Khatian’ or plot position, mutation status, plot unit conversion, list of ‘Tehasils’, list of ‘Moujas’, by logging in to website www. tsu.trp.nic.in/jami .
The citizens can also access their land deeds online, said an official of West Tripura district administration.
Earlier, in the programme Chief Minister also inaugurated a seminar on ‘West Tripura district wise land information modernization and e-jami website’.
Along with Chief Minister, Finance and Revenue Minister Badal Choudhury, Dr Prafullajit Sinha, chairperson of Agartala Municipal Council (AMC) , Chief secretary Dr S K Panda, Sushil Kumar, Principal Secretary of Revenue department, Swapan Saha , Secretary of Revenue department and Kiran Gitte, DM (West district) attended the programme.

Agartala, Sep 02, 2011 : Tripura State Council for Science & Technology will organize a two-day long Tripura Science Congress on the theme of ‘Tripura We Dream: Science & Technology Interventions’ at Nazrul Kalakshetra on September 8 next.
“At 10 am, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will formally inaugurate the congress at Nazrul Kalakshetra where eminent scientist Prof Samir K Brahmachari, secretary of Department of Scientific & Industrial Research and director general of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, will also remain present”, said Science and technology minister Joy Govinda Debroy on Friday.
“In the science congress, seven technical sessions will be held on agriculture and life science, health sciences, ecology and environment, physical science, engineering for development, earth system sciences and science and technology education besides panel discussion and session for children’s”, he added.
“Various government and apex bodies-Tripura University, NIT, AGMC and ICFAI are also associated with the congress”, Debroy told reporters here.
Besides eminent scholars from across the country, about 800 invitees including students will participate in the congress.
On September 9 next, Agriculture minister Aghore Debbarma will remain present at Sukanta Academy auditorium to preside over the valedictory session in the evening.

Agartala, Sep 02, 2011 : The first day of the Monsoon session of Tripura Assembly at Capital Complex on Friday witnessed uproarious scene during zero hour over an ‘adjournment motion’ moved by opposition MLAs demanding official statement of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on the July 10 and 11 incidents last.
Speaker Ramendra Debnath first adjourned the house at about 12 PM for fifteen minutes, but witnessed same scenes and adjourned the house upto 2 PM.
After one and half hours break, opposition MLAs led by opposition leader Ratan Lal Nath started shouting and demonstrated photos of July 10 and 11 incidents, when an innocent civilian Papai Saha was killed in TSR firing and several Congress workers, media persons and police personnel were injured during their demonstration to prevent holding of Common Entrance Test (CET) for Tripura Medical College (TMC).
Opposition MLAs demanded official statement of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
Before the final adjournment till Monday next, deputy speaker Bhanulal Saha ensured replies to three call-attention motions raised by MLAs.
Earlier, in the first hour of the day’s session, during the question hour, Opposition leader Ratan Lal Nath raised questions about the number of teachers engaged under Sarva Shikha Abhijan (SSA) programme and state government’s plan for their regularization.
Replying to the question, School Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty informed the house that the Tripura government was sympathetic to the demands of the SSA teachers of the state.
At present, all the facilities like regular teachers have been provided to the SSA teachers including Dearness allowances (DA) et al, said Chakraborty adding that the regularization of SSA teachers is not under consideration of the state government.
In reply to the opposition leader’s instance of Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh states on regularization of SSA teachers, Minister said Tripura government would have to create at least 5691 posts of teachers, which is not possible in the ongoing financial crisis of the state government.

Agartala, Sep 01, 2011 : Stage is all set for the opening session of the ‘Special Court’ arranged by Sub Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) at SDM’s office on September 4 next.
“At 9.30 am, the special court will officially start”, SDM M. U. Ahmed told reporters here on Thursday.
“In the special court, mitigation of bank loans, pending cases on street accidents, PRTC distribution, and delivery of trade license by Agartala Municipal Council, revenue collection, marriage registration, and collection of entertainment tax from the cable operators will be dealt with”, Ahmed added.
He also appealed the citizens to avail themselves of the facility of special court.
Meantime, 6 officials of SDM’s office went on retirement on Thursday. A warm farewell was accorded to them.

Agartala, Sep 01, 2011 : Leader of the opposition Ratan Lal Nath has sought intervention of the Governor against the act of Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the state police, which issued public advertisement in local dailies identifying 12 Congress workers as criminal.
In a letter to Governor Dr D Y Patil on Wednesday Nath stated that Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) had been demanding judicial enquiry into police actions on Congress agitators on July 10 and 11 last in Agartala but the state government denied it.
“We still believe judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court judge into the incident will unearth the truth but the state government had given magisterial probe and nothing came out. Rather police was given a clean chit”, Nath alleged.
He however pointed out that CID had issued public advertisement in newspaper with sketches of 12 Congress workers who were compelled to retaliated police attack and identified them as miscreants.
Superintendent of police (CID) Saumitra Dhar had urged people to provide information to pave the way for the arrest of the 12“miscreants” involved in the July 10 and 11 incidents, promising secrecy regarding the identity of the informant, Nath stated adding that CID had done it under the instruction of ruling CPI-M.

Agartala, Sep 01, 2011 : A 14 –years old girl Dipa Sukladas sustained serious bullet injuries on Wednesday afternoon in Harinakhala along Indo-Bangladesh border under Sidhai police station of Agartala when she was plucking chilly in the field.
It is not yet clear as to who had fired but it is strongly believed that she was hit by stray bullets from adjoining firing range of the BSF.
Dipa was shifted to Agartala Govt Medical College last night where doctors stated her to be critical, as one of the bullet hit lower abdomen and another on leg.
Villagers say, BSF 61 battalion who had been using the firing range yesterday as per of periodical test-firing testing is close to the place of occurrence.
The victim family also accused the BSF jawans.
However, police said that the investigation began and soon they would able to identify the culprit. Meantime, extra forces have been deployed in the area to maintain peace.

Agartala, Sep 01, 2011 : Depredations of thugs and ruffians enjoying political patronage and proverbial incompetence of police have long emerged as major threats to peaceful citizenry across the state capital . But lack of any deterrent action or punitive measure on the part of the high-ups in the state police have brought the situation to the brink of near anarchy. The young Tripura Forest Service (TFS) officer of the state Sumit Deb learned it the hard way.
Currently posted as assistant conservator of forest in Kanchanpur subdivision , Sumit Deb had reached Agartala with his ailing father for treatment late Monday afternoon by a hired vehicle. The driver had parked his vehicle near Hardhan Sangha by the roadside without causing disturbance to anyone and even the traffic constable on duty had made no objection . Even as Sumit was getting his ailing father examined in a nearby nursing home , a gang of miscreants in inebriated condition-all allegedly members of Haradhan Sangha-had turned on the driver asking him why he had parked the vehicle there . Even as the driver had been politely explaining why he had done so and how no body had been disturbed , Sumit came back.
The ruffians then turned on Sumit and, without listening to his arguments, started beating him , showering at the same time choicest invectives on him. Finally, the ruffians dragged him inside the Haradhan Sangha club house and kept up the beating. A few police constables failed to dissuade the thugs but , having failed to do , took to heels consigning Sumit to the custody of the drunken goons . Finally better sense pravailed and a few guardians of the locality arranged to send seriously injured Sumit to IGM hospital from where he was sent to G.B.hospital where he is struggling for life. No arrest has so far been made and the ruffians of Haradhan Sangha have been gleefully making threat calls to Sumit's family , directing them not to make any complaint even as police personnel remain cocooned in their complacent inaction . Ajit Bhowmik , Secretary of TFS officers association , will meet in deputation with the chief secretary Sanjay Panda this evening with plea for drastic action although the outcome remains uncertain as the PCCF R.L.Srivastava has already brought the matter to the notice of DGP, K.Saleem Ali but no action has followed. Informed sources in Haradhan Sangha area alleged that the patron princes of the assailants are hyper-active to protect their proteges from the ignomity of arrest.Significantly, leading lawyers of Agartala Bar observed that the offences that include assault,wrongful cofinement and attempt to murder call for immediate arrest by police.
In yet another instance of politically motivated over-enthusiasm , the personnel of Maharajganj Bazar police outpost, have again set a record of sorts by arresting an innocent businessman Pintu Saha on charge of 'dacoity' . A resident of Town Pratapgarh area, Pintu Saha had a longstanding dispute over boundary with a neighbour and local residents had brought the matter to the notice of officer in charge of Maharajganj Bazar outpost through a mass petition bearing signatures of residents of the area. Last night Pintu Saha's neighbour had wilfully broken down the fencing dividing both the households and filed a complaint of dacoity against Pintu Saha . The police, ostensibly acting upon alleged 'political pressure', picked up Pintu Saha from his house without even checking the prima facie basis of the complaint and handed him over to East Agartala police station. As the residents of the area met the officer in charge of Maharajganj Bazar police outpost, Jayanta De, he told them that the arrest had been made 'under political pressure'. However, informed residents of Town Pratapgarh area said that the officer in charge of the Maharajganjbazar outpost had acted in a partisan manner after being offered persuasive inducements.
