Flying bullet hits girl in Sidhai

Agartala, Sep 01, 2011 : A 14 –years old girl Dipa Sukladas sustained serious bullet injuries on Wednesday afternoon in Harinakhala along Indo-Bangladesh border under Sidhai police station of Agartala when she was plucking chilly in the field.

It is not yet clear as to who had fired but it is strongly believed that she was hit by stray bullets from adjoining firing range of the BSF.

Dipa was shifted to Agartala Govt Medical College last night where doctors stated her to be critical, as one of the bullet hit lower abdomen and another on leg.

Villagers say, BSF 61 battalion who had been using the firing range yesterday as per of periodical test-firing testing is close to the place of occurrence.

The victim family also accused the BSF jawans.

However, police said that the investigation began and soon they would able to identify the culprit. Meantime, extra forces have been deployed in the area to maintain peace.
