Agartala, Sep 04, 2011 : All Tripura Merchants’ Association, pained by the unimpeded rallies at capital Agartala during festival season, submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar demanding postponement of all the gatherings on Saturday.

Briefing media on Sunday, Chandmohan Saha, general secretary, said, “The delegation in its memorandum cited the problems of the businessmen and demanded his immediate intervention in the issue while stating to stop till the puja season”.

“The rallies at the capital Agartala cause hardship to the buyers that incurred heavy loss”, Saha added, stating, “We would not entertain the demand of hike on puja subscription by the clubs in accordance with the so-called price-rise hampering profit”.

“If any untoward situation comes, we would approach the police”, he warned.

“We will also urge the power minister to supply adequate power reducing the load shedding in this high time of the businessmen”, stated Anil Datta, vice-president.

“The shutters of our shops would remain open during the holidays as the labour department assured us that they would consider our plea”, the businessman said.

He also nailed the sales tax department over professional tax imposed upon them that would unnecessarily make obstacle to their business.
