Agartala, Aug 31, 2011 : Id-Ul-Fitar, the official end of holy Muslim month-Ramzaan, was celebrated with fervour across the state on Wednesday.
After sighting the moon last night, thousands of muslim devotees offered prayer-‘namaz’ to the almighty in the open Id-gahs on Wednesday.
At Gedu Miah mosque, Agartala, DG of Tripura Police K Saleem Ali and Sub-divisional Magistrate (Sadar) Moslem Uddin Ahmed offered namaz and shared hug each other.
There were also distribution of cloths and sharing of sweets among the muslim people in many parts of the state.
Governor Dr DY Patil and Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in their separate communiqués greeted the muslim people in particular on the occasion of Id-Ul-Fitar.
“The celebration of Id-Ul-Fitar would strengthen the unity among the people despite diversity”, hoped the Governor.
