Agartala, Jul 11, 2011 : Physically challenged persons of the state demanded that they should be included as BPL in the Census.
‘Tripura Pratibandhi Adhikar Mancha’ (TPAM) under the aegis of National body for rights of disable persons staged a demonstration in protest against ‘deprivation in the national ‘Socio Economic and Caste Census-2011’ here on Monday in front of AIR office.
TPAM in a press statement expressing their dismay said, the government of India had violated the guidelines of Supreme Court on ‘Automatic Inclusion Category’.
They alleged that the questionnaire for BPL survey had also failed to honor the Supreme Court judgment, said Salil Debbarma, joint convener of TPAM.
