Agartala, Jul 08, 2011 : Tripura secured first position in agriculture production, said official sources here.
“Tripura secured the first position among the ‘C’ category state sand would be awarded by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh” said Agriculture Director Dr. Shib Narayan Sen.
The categorization of the states was made on the basis of the soil condition and proportional crop-yield. Dr. Sen said that around 7.12 lakh MT crops were produced in the state during last one year.
Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar in a letter had already invited the Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister to receive the award.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will give away the award to Chief Minister at a function organized by Union Agriculture Ministry in New Delhi on July 16 next.” Secretary and Director of Tripura agriculture department would also accompany the ministers.
The award giving ceremony would also mark the foundation day of Indian Council of Agricultural Research’, Sen said.
