Agartala, Jul 24, 2011 : Title contender Nine Bullets Club entered into Semi final beating Tripura Police by 2-1 goals in the opening match of domestic Rakhal Memorial Shield knock-out football tournament here on Thursday last.
It was a battle for two teams first time in this season and Bullets breezed past Police at last. At the Dashrath Dev Stadium, Badharghat, Bullets lead 1-0 before lemon break by Vanlal Rowata. Trailing behind, Police bounced back and level the score by skipper Utpal Chowdhury just at the beginning in the second half. At last, Bullets striker Tulunga found the net only when ten minutes were left of final whistle.
For this defeat Police bowed out from the tournament.
Bullets now to take on defending champion Lalbahadur Vyamagar in Semifinal on July 24 next.
Earlier, veteran footballer Karna Debbarma opened the tournament by kicking the ball. MLA Pabitra Kar and Secretary of Tripura Sports Council Kamal Saha were present in this function. Altogether six teams are in the fray in this tourney.
