Agartala, Jul 12, 2011 : Even as Both Congress and Left Front called Agartala bandh on Wednesday in protest against the Monday violence, Congress supporters organized a funeral procession with the body of Papai Saha, who had been killed in police firing.
Papai was shot dead by TSR on Monday when violence swept the city roads following Congress protest march.
Thousands of the Congress workers wearing black badges started the procession from GB Hospital.
The procession reached at the Hawkers Corner where the colleagues of the deceased saw their friend for the last time.
Later, the body mortuary van reached at Congress Bhawan. Former Chief Minister Samir Ranjan Barman, other leaders and activists paid tributes to the deceased.
Massive security arrangements were made at the capital following the clash between Congress workers and security forces took place at Post Office Chowmuhani.
