Tax collection showed 25.70 pc growth, e-services mooted

Agartala, Jul 17, 2011 : Department of Taxes and Excise recoded 25.70 percent growth at tax collection with a total amounting to Rs. 586 crore last year. 

The tax collection is expected to increase manifold in coming years and in view of the growth of business and numbers of trading establishment the department is now contemplating to use e-service facilities at optimum level, officials said.

On Sunday under Mission Mode Project, the Department organized a workshop to make the Tripura traders aware of e- services relating to payment of commercial taxes. The workshop was organized at Agartala Town Hall on Sunday. 

Finance Minister Badal Chowdhury inaugurated the workshop. 

Chowdhury in his address laid emphasis on the literacy to facilitate the traders with the e-services like- e-payment, e-return filing, e-refund, e-issue of forms that would reduce the time taken process. 

Commissioner Brijesh Pandey threw light on the technical aspects and urged the traders to be registered under these e-services. 

At present there are total of 16,568 VAT traders registered in the state.
