Agartala, Jul 25, 2011 : Family members of six villagers had been kidnapped by NLFT (BM) militants on last June 29 from remote Ram Bhadra Para of Amarpur subdivision under South Tripura district met DGP on Monday for their early rescue.

Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Surajit Datta accompanied them to the police chief.

The Congress president also submitted a memorandum to DGP demanding security of the villagers and financial help from administration.

Expressing serious concern over the security situation along the border area of the district, where about 3 kms areas of Indo-Bangla frontier is still unfenced, PCC president requested the DGP to set up BSF and TSR camps to plug the vulnerable area.

He said, NLFT also served ransom notice to the poor villagers, demanding Rs 10 lakh for release of the six kidnapped persons and threatened they would kidnap more villagers if their demand were not met.

Earlier, Datta during his visit in the village offered Rs 1, 000 to each of the victim families.

Police believed that that the six abducted persons had been taken to Bangladesh and confine them in the safe hideouts of NLFT militants

Datta later said, DGP assured the victim’s family that the police administration would conduct a flag meeting between BSF and Bangladesh Border guards to ensure the early release of the abducted persons.
