Agartala, Jul 12, 2011 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the newly-built Tripura Legislative Assembly at New Capital Complex on July 22 next, official sources said on July 12.
The one-day visit was finalized by the Prime Minister Office. A communiqué in this regard reached to the State Secretariat on July 11 last.
The new Assembly house was constructed at a cost of Rs 30 crore.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will hold a meeting to the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. Among others Indo-Bangla issues and Tripura’s financial conditions are expected to be discussed.
Earlier, Tripura Assembly was housed at 110 year-old Ujjayanta Palace built by Maharaja Radhakishore Manikya . The assembly would now be converted into a museum as per the accord signed between state government and All Tripura Tribal Force in 1993.
