Agartala, Jul 10, 2011 : At least 65 persons including 11 journalists were injured when police and TSR resorted to lathi charge in MBBCollege campus on Sunday noon. Three journalists were reported to have been critical and admitted in GB Hospital.
The police action came when a Congress activists came to the MBB Campus. They were protesting against the dual policies of the state government relating to Agartala Govt Medical College and Tripura Medical College and the way entrance test is being conducted for the TMC in MBB. The journalists were there for professional duties.
Earlier massive security arrangements were made in their entire MBB Collge with with TSR and police personnel. In fact the entire city took a fortified look with even vehicles entering the city being checked and monitored. The 144 CrPC had already been clamped.
The journalists had staged a protest in front of PHQ and would meet the DGP.
