Agartala, Jul 13, 2011 : A three-member All India Congress Committee delegation led by Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Mukul Wasnik arrived here at Agartala on Wednesday to take on spot stock of the situation in the wake of series of violence that raged Agartala on July 10 and July 11.
Wasnik accompanied by Thomas Ranjan and Major Ved Prakash also visited the injured persons at GB Hospital, and family members of the slain youth Papai Saha. They also met media persons in Agartala Press Club and listened to the July 10 incidents over Common Entrance Test for MBBS in Tripura Medical College in which 11 media persons were injured. TJU president Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Editor Syandan Patrika and others informed in details of the incidents to the central minister. They also handed him over a CD on the incidents.
The AICC team visited Congress Bhawan and also interacted with partymen.
Wasnik expressed serious concern at the assault on the journalists.
“We shall adequately brief the prevailing situation of the state to the party High Command. It was the High Command which would take decision and accordingly it will be communicated to you”, he said.
