Agartala, Jul 12, 2011 : The CPI (M) party secretary Bijan Dhar has denounced the organised attempt of Congress and its allies to create lawlessness in the state on the issue of TMC admission. He justified the police action in ensuring a peaceful central entrance test (CET) for admission to first year MBBS course in Society run Tripura Medical College (TMC) and in maintaining law and order in the capital town yesterday. 'The way the anti-social elements under the banner of Congress had invaded the West Agartala police station and ransacked it , the TSR jawans had no other alternative but to resort to lathi-charge' said Dhar . He charged Congress with conscious and planned attempts to destabilise the state government as part of a longterm conspiracy to capture power thrugh backdoor. In this context, he also expressed his unhappiness over the functioning of a section media for partisanship and lack of fairness in coverage of different political developments in the state.
Dhar dismissed the issue raised by Congress in regard to the admission to the Tripura Medical College (TMC). 'The TMC authority was to conduct a common entry test for admission to MBBS first year course but the Congress opposed it without any rhyme or reason; can this be an issue' asked Dhar. He also dismissed allegations of irregular fund collection by TMC in spite of being a college run by the state government as 'baseless' and added that a registered Society was running the college and the state government was providing only infrastructural support. Dhar was accompanied in the media conference by leaders of front constituents Forward Block, RSP and CPI. He concluded by saying that people of the state would reject and resist the conspiracy of Congress for capturing power through the backdoor.
