Agartala, Aug 31, 2011 : After Khowai, coal was found at Jagabandhu Para under Gandacherra sub division on Tuesday.
The pieces of black material were coming out along with water and mud during the work for a deep-well at the locality”, said DM (Dhalai) Abhishek Singh on Wednesday.
“The chunks of coal were coming out in a small amount after digging about 300 feet that was officially confirmed after primary examination”, added Singh over telephone.
“Sub Divisional Magistrate (Gandacherra) went to the spot and the official would submit a report tomorrow”, said the DM adding, “Experts have been asked to come here for assessing the availability”.
“Although no further collection of coal was affirmed at the spot till this morning locally”, stated the SDM (Gandacherra).
Meantime, the locals gathered at the site and collected the pieces of coal as soon as the news spread that would be used replacing firewood after dried out.
“The work has been stopped since Tuesday last. Police personnel were also deployed for the protection of the site”, Police said.
