Agartala, Aug 19, 2011 : The Institution of Engineers (India), Tripura Centre, and National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee will organize a three-day long national conference on ‘Water, Energy and Bio-Diversity- with special reference to North East region’ at Prajna Bhawan on August 20 next.
“At around 6 pm, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will formally inaugurate the conference at Nazrul Kalashetra where Science and technology minister Joy Gobinda Deb Roy and eminent Biotechnologist Dr Anil Chandra Ghosh will also remain present”, Dr Swapan Bhaumik , organizing secretary, told reporters here on Thursday.
“In the conference, three parallel technical sessions will be held besides discussion on water, energy resources and bio-diversity for tackling emerging challenges through scientific roadmap and for sustainable conservation”, said Dr NC Ghosh.
“Various government and apex bodies are also associated with the conference”, said Ranen Dasgupta, organizing Chairman.
Beside eminent scholars from across the country, a large section of individuals of eminence including students will attend the conference.
On August 22, Finance minister Badal Chowdhury and Power minister Manik Dey and Forest minister Jitendra Chowdhury will remain present to mark the valedictory session.
