Night trains suspended before I-day celebration

Agartala, Aug 13, 2011 : The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) cancelled and also suspended passenger train services in Agartala-Silchar-Lumding routes running at night from August 13.

The decision was taken keeping in mind militants’ threat before the Independence Day celebration, said S Hajong NFR’s Chief Public Relation officer.

Among the cancelled trains include Agartala-Lumding Express and Karimganj-Dullabcherra passenger train, Barak Valley Express between Lumding to Silchar, and Cachar Express in the same route.

Hajong added that, the Lumding- Agartala express will be regulated between Badarpur and Agartala and the down train will run up to Dharmanagar.

The Hill Queen Express between Lumding and Haflong will run during day time. Two more special trains have also been arranged from Lumding to Silchar and Silchar-Agartala during daytime, he added.

After peaceful observation of Independence Day, the night train services would be resumed.
