Khowai, Aug 12, 2011 : Tripura state rifles belonging to 11 battalion detained five tribal youths with firearms from Murabari under Kalyanpur police station on Thursday.
At 7.30 pm, the jawans in a routine patrolling went to Murabari rubber garden and detained Sujit Debbarma (27), Papan Debbarma (21), Malendra Debbarma (35), Sachindra Debbarma (21) and Krishna Debbarma (45), residents of Gayangfangbari, with two country-made gun and 2 rounds of cartridge.
Later, they were handed over to the Kalyanpur police station.
“The five youths claimed that they had gone to kill the wild bears that attacked their hamlets”, Police added. Apparently, they were speaking the truth and they do not belong to any insurgent group”.
Police nevertheless asked for remand for the arrested youths on Friday.
