Agartala, Aug 16, 2011 : Independence Day celebration with all pomp and éclat passed off peacefully in Tripura. There was no report of any untoward incident in any part of the state.
At around 9.10 am, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in the main programme at Assam Rifles ground hoisted the national flag. He was accorded with march past of the police, security forces and scouts and guides.
Hundreds of school students participated in a chorus while other participants staged a tribal dance and also demonstrated P T.
In the early morning, ICAT Minister Anil Sarkar also unfurled the national flag at Civil Secretariat.
Later, several cultural events took place across the state to mark the 65th Independence Day.
Several clubs like Sanghati Sangha also organized blood donation and body donation camps.
