Monsoon lashes out at Tripura

Agartala, Aug 10, 2011 : Monsoon rains have struck Agartala and its vicinity since Monday evening. The incessant rains have upset the normal life.

Low-lying areas of the capital have been partially submerged with water and traffic movements also hit road-blocks. The showers have cooled the air with maximum temperatures plunging to below 30 degrees Celsius.

Reports reaching from several parts said, there were moderate damages to crops and destruction of trees due to rains.

According to MET officials, the state recorded 025.9 mm monsoon rainfall during last 24 hours over Tripura.

In its next 48 hours forecast MET department said, there is a possibility of cloudy sky with few spells of rain and thunder showers at some places across the state.
