Tripura’s tributes on Tagore death anniversary

Agartala, Aug 08, 2011 : The seventieth death anniversary of great poet and nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore is being observed across Tripura with due solemnity through a number of programmes.

The main programme to commemorate the death anniversary as well as the celebration of 150th Birth anniversary of the Nobel laureate will be held at Nazrul Kalashetra here on Monday evening in presence of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

A procession, starting from Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on Monday afternoon with participation of school students, teachers, employees of various government departments and cultural artists passes through various thoroughfares of Agartala city and will end at Nazrul Kalashetra.

Later, in the evening as part of the memorial programmes a book on Rabindranath will release by Chief Minister in presence of ICAT Minister Anil Sarkar.

Several artists including school children will perform songs, drama and dances of Tagore to pay homage to the poet.

Cultural programmes were also held in all schools, colleges, other educational institutions.

Earlier, on Sunday as part of four day long cultural programmes to pay tribute to poet Rabindranath Tagore renowned Bangladeshi singer Abdul Wayadot enthralled the audience at main programme organized at Nazrul Kalashetra.
