Massive security for I’ Day celebration

Agartala, Aug 13, 2011 : Massive security arrangements were made across the state for peaceful observation of 64th Independence Day.

“As part of security arrangements every police station is now conducting raids in militant infested areas. Counter insurgency operations were also intensified”, said NC Das DIG Operations on Saturday.

He added that Security forces had been deployed in sensitive and vulnerable areas known to be insurgents’ stronghold.

“We also tightened security on National Highway-44 and other highways with additional deployment beside in the city and important venues including Agartala airport”, Das informed over telephone.

The official said, “Police also pressed into action dog and bomb squads in Agartala and other places of the state that would be continued up to peaceful observation of I-day”.

Plain cloth police personnel were also deployed in all important places of the state to monitor suspicious movements.

Border vigil by BSF was intensified in view of the recent movement of NLFT activities in some parts of Dhalai, North and South Tripura district and remote areas adjacent to Indo-Bangla border.
